The iRiver B20 is a very impressive media player with integrated DAB thrown in for good measure. Sound quality and navigation are both superb, while the DAB reception is also first rate. Unfortunately this is, quite simply, a very expensive player, with the similarly specified Cowon D2 offering twice the capacity for the same price.

Iriver has come up with some innovative designs for a lot of their MP3 players. The iriver e10 6GB MP3 Player, however, is not one of them. This may be bad for some, but if you're like me you really don't care about the looks of your MP3 player. You may judge the e10 just by its cover, but you should really take a look inside to see what it has to offer. Let's take a look at some of the features and specifications of this ordinary MP3 player to see why it's selling on Geeks.com.

The Clix player is a 4 gigabyte model in line with other such players as the iPod nano, Sansa e200 series, and other flash memory-based portable media players. iriver may not have the market share of the aforementioned Apple product or the distinction of being the inventor of solid state memory (like Sandisk), but they always pull out great designs that match and even surpass the feature sets of the big name players. I'm hoping the Clix Rhapsody will keep giving them a run for their money and that it lives up to all my self-imagined hype.

On the face of it, though, this player is a bit of an odd product. For starters it has an unusual shape - while every other manufacturer is trying to slim their players down to the point at which they virtually disappear into thin air, iRiver has produced something that looks very much like a very small Toblerone.

I've been a fan of iriver products for a while now. Like many electronics companies they are primarily based overseas. As such, we in the States miss out on a handful of nifty little gadgets that our Asian or European brothers and sisters have in abundance. In fact, iriver showcased a select few non-U.S. market devices at CES '07. I have to admit, I didn't give them much of a glance as I figured we'd never see them again. Not so? Today I'll be playing with the iriver X20, a 4GB media player that runs with the like of the iPod nano and Sansa E200 line of PMPs. But don't expect to find one at your local Best Buy or Circuit City. The X20 is available online from our product sponsor, but is this little bit of gray-market goodness worth exploring?

Meet E10, less than a year old from South Korea. Born of iriver components, it loves to charm users with its flash interface and soothing music. In its spare time, the E10 enjoys listening to the radio, taking dictations, reading, playing games, watching movies, and changing channels on the TV. Interested? The U10 has an innovative interface that works well and is feature laden, with music, pictures, video, text, radio and games in one tiny package. The downsides are the relatively high price for the capacity and the clumsy method of getting content onto the device. Get past those, and the U10 is a winner that just might take a few sales from the iPod nano...

Another portable manufacturer has jumped on the multifunction portable bandwagon. iRiver has introduced the U10, which supports MP3s, WMAs, ASF, OGG, JPG, TXT, Flash Lite 1.1 and MPEG-4 SP video at 320x240 (QVGA). It also features an FM tuner with recording and alarm functions. An equalizer with 10 presets is included...

On paper at least, the H10 has a lot going for it. It's a very compact little audio player and though its measurements are slightly larger than that of the Pod mini, it's slightly lighter at 96.2g, and thinner than
the Zen Micro. It's certainly more pocketable than my third generation 20GB iPod.

iRiver really worked hard when developing the H10, and it shows. With a 260k color display for photos, five gigabyte hard drive, FM recorder and the ability to play subscription music, the H10 outperforms every MP3 player in its class. The only things missing are a data partition and TV out.

The iRiver PMC-120 offers a 3.5in screen with a resolution of 320 x 240 and a 20GB hard disk, providing a theoretical maximum of 80 hours of video storage if recorded at native resolution at 500kps. iRiver has experience of producing portable media players with its PMP-120 and PMP-140 Linux based devices having been available for some months. The PMPs offer support for AVI, ASF, and versions three, four and five of the DiVX codec - without any need for transcoding. By contrast, this unit, the PMC-120, only supports video files encoded in WMV format.
