The iSurf II from Vigor has an MSRP of $29.99 and a quick search on our shopping link shows that it can be found for less. For that price you get a solid attractive piece of hardware. Despite having two 40mm fans, it is rather quiet. Even with the test system sitting on top of the bench and the iSurf II at the same level as my head it was not noticeable over the rest of the system...

Vigor Gaming had to go back to the drawing table and make improvements to their design and find a way to cut costs on their TEC Cooler. I believe Vigor Gaming did just that with the Monsoon II Lite and they did so without hurting performance. They were able to keep the performance the same by not changing the fan, TEC or heat sink design and did away with some fluff that really wasn't needed to start with. This version is being sold at 25% less than the original and performs exactly the same...

The cooler itself is quite a beast, weighing in at almost 1 kg with the fan attached. The design is tried-and-true: heat pipes & a lot of stacked fins. The unique feature of the Monsoon II, of course, is the 50W TEC element integrated into the base. The TEC is sandwiched between the nickel-plated copper base plate and a hot plate. Both the base plate and hot plate contain 4 heat pipes (2 to each side) that carry the heat to the fins. The heat pipes attached to the base plate have the same function as in any normal heat sink, but the ones attached to the hot plate remove heat generated at the hot side of the TEC. This way, the TEC assists the passive operation of the base plate heat pipes. Even if the TEC fails, you still have a semi-functional passive heat sink.
