Tagan has done an excellent job with the Black Pearl aluminum chassis in many ways due to the fact that it offers a variety of features and no real drawbacks of any type in its overall achievement. From its front control panel and easy access pop-out USB 2.0 ports to its roomy interior and solid construction the Black Pearl is winner. The fact that the BP comes geared for liquid cooling is another bonus that will highly benefit the user that is planning on exercising that feature. The only drawback to this fine enclosure is it's close to $300.00 price tag that will daunt many users on a budget, but for those who do not care for price and do not want to skimp on their case, this is a bad boy.

Tagan has hit a lot of things right with the Black Pearl WCR case. From tool-less features to many small details for cable management, the Black Pearl WCR was extremely easy to work with. With pre-drilled holes for water cooling tubes and for a radiator, it easily appeals to water cooling enthusiasts.

Tagan's latest foray into the computer enclosure market comes in the form of the Black Pearl. No, this isn't a rerun of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl". Rather, this is a computer enclosure that Tagan is dubbing as the most qualified water cooling ready chassis that an enthusiast can buy. With features galore, the Black Pearl seems ready to take to the high seas in its quest for ultimate chassis domination. Will the Black Pearl succeed, or will it walk the plank? Tagan has on its hand a truly interesting product. The BZ900 900W is a top notch performer, it held its ground amidst the harsh testing environment and did so while acoustically remaining fairly silent. And who could forget the lights. This unit packs enough LEDs for its own light show! For the modders, the BZ900 900W is second to none. Unfortunately, for those who would rather a more subtle power supply, there is no switch for the lights and or fix without first getting to work with a pair of wire cutters.

The last time we had looked at a Tagan power supply was last October when exploring the Tagan ITZ 1300W and comparing it to Thermaltake's ToughPower 1200W power supply. While most enthusiasts don't need power supplies in excess of 1,000 Watts, for those that do the ITZ 1300W did perform admirably but its voltage rails did fluctuate some, though it did have the "WOW" factor on its side thanks to the stunning paint job. Since then Tagan released a new power supply, which has a maximum power output of 900W, boasts six +12V rails, and is modular with LED indicators for each cable. This new power supply is the Tagan BZ 900W, and today we are reviewing it at Phoronix.

And their latest unit to grace the shelves of your local retailer is the BZ line. The BZ is not only another power supply to your collection but it offers somethings that are a little out of the norm for power supplies. Tagan threw in the mix of LED lights and other safety precautions to the usual 135mm fan and modular cables. We all know that Tagan makes great power supplies but this just adds to the goodness. So, lets see if this goodness is worthy of being put into your rig.

The number of SATA, 4-pin drive, PCI-E (two of which are PCI-E eight pin), and Physics card power connectors will allow the user to install a large number of devices. Then consider the addition of extras like the anti-vibration gasket and the four pin power to SATA connectors, and we have a power supply that is prepared for just about any situation.
