"Philips has always been known for creating products that are considered either innovative or just down-right wacky. So we weren't surprised when we received the oddly shaped Philips Wake-Up Light for review. Marketed as an iPod dock that doubles as an alarm clock, the Philips Wake-Up Light's claim to fame is the attached lamp, which brightens when the alarm goes off so you can gradually wake up to soothing sounds and a nice calm light, rather than the abrupt interruption of a repeating buzzer. Priced at $199, this is one alarm clock that stands out from the rest. If you do not need the dock, you can buy the Philips Wake-Up Light as a standalone unit for $30 less."

Phillips' most recent entry into the earbud market touts an expert tuned and angled acoustic design, which reportedly provides remarkably "crisp, detailed and transparent" audio with "extended precision highs delivering the ultimate in pure sound." But seriously - are the headphones really all that? Read on to find out.

It may not be the most feature rich mobile around, but its simplicity, clean aesthetics and amount of talk time that it offers makes a strong point for the Philips Xenium 9@9w.

As soundbar cinema systems go, the HTS8100 is a fine example. The sound quality on offer is surprisingly sophisticated, and those angled speaker drivers do generate a genuine sense of width that sets this system apart from the virtual surround modes found in TVs and 2.1 systems. If you can't afford and accommodate a proper separates system it's definitely worth checking out.

While the 32PFL9632D's pictures may not yet represent complete perfection, they get pretty darned close to it, and might certainly be argued to deliver the best pictures yet seen on a 32in LCD TV. Especially since they put to the sword more fully than any TV before LCD's pesky motion resolution problem.

If you look carefully, it's easy to see the 'cracks' left by the features the 32PFL7562D has had to go without in order to hit its low price. But with some judicious tweaking of the TV's settings, it's possible to at least partially Polyfilla over some of those cracks, leaving you with a TV that easily outperforms its price point.

Day-tripper John Hill wants to enjoy some of the photos currently stuck in an electronic shoe-box (his PC's hard disk) and checks out how they look on the Philips 7FF1AW Digital PhotoFrame. Will he be impressed? Well, he was certainly surprised.

There's a lot that's good about the SHN-750 earphones. The design is excellent and makes them very comfortable to wear, even when running. The sound quality is decent, while the price is also surprisingly reasonable. However, I have to question the need for active noise cancelling when it comes to in-ear earphones. With a good seal, you should barely be able to hear ambient noise anyway. Add to this the fact that the active noise cancelling in the SHN750s is very subtle at best, and also results in low frequency buzzing when hooked up to a mains powered device.

A few months ago Creative released the Xdock. What many noted was that it wasn't designed for its own line of Zen MP3 players, but for the ubiquitous iPod. Creative is not the only one to have thrown in the towel and start designing for the iPod - this rather sleek clock radio, with a built in iPod dock is from Philips. As they say, if you can't beat' em...
