Alienware is a company that needs no introduction when it comes to gaming notebooks. The interstellar PC builder has been able to consistently raise the bar in the portable gaming space over and over, and with the Area-51 m15x it's done it once again. Though the machine's not without flaws, the m15x is almost the perfect gaming notebook due to its performance, tolerable size and killer features. Bottom line: If you're looking for a desktop replacement that will actually be an upgrade to your standard go-to system, this is it.

The Alienware High Definition Media Server is not the Cadillac of media servers - it's more like a Maybach. If you have to ask how much, you probably can't afford it, but once you drive one everything else is pretty much crap. In a world that is moving towards complete home integration, Alienware has drawn first blood and set a high standard for others to beat...

The latest 17" model to be released by Alienware is the Area-51 m9750. This particular model features the latest Core2 parts with excellent hard drive options and continues an initiative that Alienware first introduced in 2006, mobile SLI.

Legit Reviews was able to snag one of Alienware's first High Definition Media Servers off the assembly line to take a closer look what could be the future of home computing and entertainment. These high-end media servers are designed for users looking to create a connected and fully-integrated home theater. The price of the media server is between $5000 and $7000 depending on the configuration that you desire. In the next few weeks Legit Reviews will partner with two custom home theater installers in Los Angeles to get their views on the functionality and operability of the Alienware HD Media Server (HDMS). Because this flagship media server is not intended for normal consumers to install, Alienware is only making these servers available to profession installers. Until our installers have a go at it and report back to us, we wanted to at least give you a sneak peak as to what you will see after our installers get through...

Aliens have landed at The Tech Zone. Alienware , arguably the most familiar name in the family of boutique system builders, has provided us with our first look at one of their desktop gaming rigs. The Alienware Area-51 7500 is the workhorse system in Alienware's line of desktop computers. The term workhorse is only used insofar as the unit is the base model desktop. This in no way makes it any less capable then any of the other 3 desktops in Alienware's stable.

Drop the Warhammer! Alienware has gone crazy with its latest flagship laptop. Without a doubt the most powerful Windows Vista-based laptop on the market, the manufacturer of choice for speed freaks has achieved another industry first with the Area-51 m9750 (starting at £1148). The breakthrough offering is the first 17-inch laptop to fuse the astounding graphics capabilities of dual 512MB nVidia GeForce Go 7950 GTX graphics cards and the blazing speed of Intel Core 2 Duo mobile processors, making it a dream system for mobile gamers and design professionals.

When I think laptop, I think portable computing. I want to be able to check some mail, sync some music, and basically, go a long time out of the house without worrying about where I'm going to find a free outlet. I'm also the sort who uses a laptop for work, not games, and would rather spend my gaming budget on a capable desktop. But I understand wanting a laptop that can game, I've done the LAN party deal for posterity. I also understand the appeal of the desktop replacement: a quiet computer that takes up almost no space is something most everyone agrees with.

Perhaps one of the most recognizable name brands in the boutique OEM system market, Alienware's built a reputation on their trademark alien-themed cases with high end components under the hood. The Area-51 has been a staple in their lineup, and today HardwareLogic abducts a build for our own autopsy. Will we uncover out-of-this-world performance, or are these rigs better left in outer space?

The system we were sent was pretty loaded specification wise, which accounts for the full on £2,462 price label, compared to the rather less eye watering £1,198 that the system starts at. Coming under the Area-51 umbrella, the m7950 we were sent features an Intel Core 2 Duo T7600 running at 2.33GHz, combined with nVidia SLI graphics.

Alienware's MJ-12 8550i is a relative powerhouse considering it's available from £1497 (ex. VAT). Quad-Core Intel Xeon processing collides with four-drive storage capability and acceptable memory capacity. The system ships as standard with Windows XP Professional (SP2), Intel Xeon 5130 (2.00GHz, 1333MHz FSB with 4MB cache), 1GB dual-channel 667MHz DDR2 (upgradable to 4GB), and 128MB nVidia Quadro FX 350 PCI-E (optional 1GB Quadro or ATI FireGL). Configurable with up to four hard drives, the MJ-12 8550i makes sure running out of space is never an issue. And if you're looking for speed, you've just hit paydirt: the MJ-12 8550i offers 15,000rpm drives that deliver lightning-fast access. Storage options include: RAID 0 for increased performance and nearly double the drive to motherboard bandwidth; RAID 1 for added security so all your hard work won't evaporate into the stratosphere; and single or dual independent (non-RAID/JBOD) drives for system critical data independence, performance, and the storage topology designed to your requirements.

The last time we took a look at an Alienware laptop it was the Area-51 m5550 15.4-inch laptop. The m5550 is more of a mid-range budget system. The Aurora m9700 is on high-end being Alienware's 2nd most expensive laptop they sell. This notebook is built for gaming with dual 256MB Nvidia Geforce Go 7900 GS video cards in SLI mode! This is the first and only 17" laptop with a dual graphics card system. Before I reveal anymore about this laptop let's get the review started!

The system that I am reviewing has just about everything that you can get on an Alienware Area-51 7500 desktop save a second 8800 GTX for SLI and the PhysX card that is of questionable value anyway. The CPU in this rig is the beastly Intel GX6700 Core 2 Quad Extreme edition that I run in one of my test machines which is the fastest quad core CPU around right now.
