FWIW - I've experienced most of the problems listed here, mostly after upgrading to 6.6.0.1. I have a Panasonic LF-D521 Multi burner that is about 2 years old, with maybe 1500 hours service. I'm not positive that Nero is to blame, but lots of evidence points to that. My problems began with increasing errors with DVD-RWs, and then occasionally a DVD-R. I was running Nero 5.5 and saw a good deal on an upgrade, so I bit. I IMMEDIATELY began having more, not fewer problems burning -rws and -rs. Most errors were "target" related (e.g., "SCSI Target Error"). I contacted Nero and provided their info file and they replied with some cut-and-pasted stock answers about checking cables and connections, your burner may be bad, use only good, reliable media, etc. I've also checked to be sure that I have the latest drivers. I've tried burning DVDs with other software and have a little better succes than Nero, but still about 75% fail rate. Funny thing is, I can read anything and can burn CDs and CD-RWs without any problems at all. Bottom line is, I uninstalled 6.6 and went back to 5.5. My problems are slightly better but still burning lots of coasters. In my investigation, I did run into more than a couple of posts (other forums) that implicated SP2 as having problems with Nero (or visa versa). I had installed XP SP2 just prior to having my initial problems (while running 5.5). I'm still having problems sans SP2. Having exhausted all other options, I've ordered a new burner. That may be the problem, but since all my troubles began with the update to Nero 6, thought I'd comiserate here.
