hotrod11 -> Up'd to Nero 6.6 Now can't burn DVDs (12/10/2004 8:11:25 AM)

I just upgraded to Nero 6.6 from 6.3 yesterday. I was able to Recode a few of my movies yesterday (which seemed much slower, but that is another thread), but more importantly when I went to burn the .nrg files with Nero Express it won't burn. I get the following errors:

Verifying disc positiion of item 0 (not relocatable, no disc, pos, no patch infos, orig at #0): target disc position #150 differs

Cannot write track at correct position with this recorder

Burn process failed.

[:(][:o]

Any ideas. Things were going very well with 6.3?

What is the full version that's you're running (6.6.0.1 or 6.6.0.3)?

hotrod11 -> RE: Up'd to Nero 6.6 Now can't burn DVDs (12/10/2004 11:25:36 AM)

It was 6.6.0.1 earlier this week with no problems. I just upped to 6.6.0.3 yesterday. I'm going to try a clean install instead of an upgrade tonight. But if any one else has any ideas I'll listen.

"Behind" seem to have done the beta thing again with 6.6 - flaky as hell, loads of trouble - give it another release or 2 to mature.

Some people have no trouble, others plenty - it's looking like it may be a drive or configuration related problem.

Keep a close look on the items at the end of the history log - it may be even less tolerant of conflicts than 6.3 was.

I might bite the bullet and throw 6.6.0.3 in - I grabbed 6.6.0.1, but then held off after reading many trouble reports.

MP3Mogul -> RE: Up'd to Nero 6.6 Now can't burn DVDs (12/10/2004 7:04:16 PM)

I haven't experienced any problems yet with 6.6.0.3

hotrod11 -> RE: Up'd to Nero 6.6 Now can't burn DVDs (12/11/2004 8:41:25 AM)

Definately troubles here. I didn't know if it was because I performed and upgrade instead of a clean install till I did it last night twice. I even used Nero's Clean Tool. Still no go. I switched back to 6.6.0.1 and all is good. [:D]

Unfortunately I had backed up 3 movies to image files using the new version of Recode and they were all junk. Would not even play when I loaded the image file with Nero's image Drive. [:@]

STAY AWAY from 6.6.0.3 and 3.0.1.14. Junk on my computer. [:'(]

I did just an update to 6.6.0.3 and have backed up alot of movies already, without problems. This is more than likely a hardware/driver issue that Nero hasn't ironed out yet. Report it to Nero!

Hotrod11,

I have had exactly the same problem as you reported. I upgraded yesterday from 6.6.0.1 to 6.6.0.3 and my transcoding time jumped from 50 minutes to 3 hours.

If I burn to recorder I get the 150 problem you get, if I burn straight to DVD I it works, just takes so long.

I have tried with a Panasonic DVD-RAM and Sony D22A

I logged a call with Nero today, but no reponse yet. I have you had any luck? [&:]

UPDATE: Just un-installed Nero 6.6.0.3 and re-installed load 6.3.1.17 NVE2 is now going to process in 24 minutes, much better than 3 hours.. :-)

That's the truth. After unstall of 6.6.0.3 and 3.0.1.14 and reinstall of previous version, I was back in business.

Folks, make sure you report it to techsupport@nero.com. Attach a copy of the log file (you saved from the failed burn) and the report, generated and saved, after you run the INFOTOOL.

I've just had the same "cannot write track at correct position with this recorder" trying to burn .nrg image created in NERO Vision (latest updated) from tape capture. I use the latest update for NERO v.6.6.0.3. Google returned lots of complaints on this situation. Shortly speaking, after I just uninstalled InCD everything started working properly.

Yes, definately report it to Nero, because not all drives/systems are experiencing any problem. They release fixes monthly!

FWIW - I've experienced most of the problems listed here, mostly after upgrading to 6.6.0.1. I have a Panasonic LF-D521 Multi burner that is about 2 years old, with maybe 1500 hours service.

I'm not positive that Nero is to blame, but lots of evidence points to that. My problems began with increasing errors with DVD-RWs, and then occasionally a DVD-R. I was running Nero 5.5 and saw a good deal on an upgrade, so I bit. I IMMEDIATELY began having more, not fewer problems burning -rws and -rs. Most errors were "target" related (e.g., "SCSI Target Error"). I contacted Nero and provided their info file and they replied with some cut-and-pasted stock answers about checking cables and connections, your burner may be bad, use only good, reliable media, etc. I've also checked to be sure that I have the latest drivers.

I've tried burning DVDs with other software and have a little better succes than Nero, but still about 75% fail rate. Funny thing is, I can read anything and can burn CDs and CD-RWs without any problems at all.

Bottom line is, I uninstalled 6.6 and went back to 5.5. My problems are slightly better but still burning lots of coasters. In my investigation, I did run into more than a couple of posts (other forums) that implicated SP2 as having problems with Nero (or visa versa). I had installed XP SP2 just prior to having my initial problems (while running 5.5). I'm still having problems sans SP2.

Having exhausted all other options, I've ordered a new burner. That may be the problem, but since all my troubles began with the update to Nero 6, thought I'd comiserate here.
