That extra 8x will gain you a few seconds at most.

No, it cannot be done. A true 40125S can be taken to 48x, but not this drive. This drive also requires a special firmware just to operate as a 5S... none of the other 48125S firmwares would work for it. So no, don't do it. It's really not worth the trouble anyways.
