Can I connect my toshiba tecra m1 and nd6500?

emperor -> RE: NEC 6500 official firmware overview 15/10/2004 Updated! (5/25/2005 6:34:45 PM)

cannot answer 100% but probably yes

p.inchetto -> RE: NEC 6500 official firmware overview 15/10/2004 Updated! (5/26/2005 1:30:32 PM)

Necflash tells me that does not find any cdrwriter supported. 6500main.bat tells me that does not find any nd6500. First time that I use 6500boot.bat seems that it seems that has cancelled and then written something, but 6500main.bat has failed with "no 6500 found".
Is it necessary that I send the dvdwriter the nec for replace bios?

p.inchetto, if i understood, you tried the flashing package, why you did this at the first place? did you installed the drive properly and didn't worked?

p.inchetto -> RE: NEC 6500 official firmware overview 15/10/2004 Updated! (5/30/2005 11:02:40 AM)

Yes, I installed the drive in my notebook and it returned ide error #0 or #1 (I don't remember exatly).
Than I tryed to flashing my nd6500 unit with 6500boot, first, and after reboot 6500main.bat has failed with "no 6500 found".

How safe is it flashing 202c to 203d? My drive is using 202c at the moment.

Hi to all,
I have an old Compaq Armada E500 (p3-700) with DVD reader installed.
Does anybody try NEC 6500A with Compaq Armada ?

Thanks for any hint.

sjoblom -> RE: NEC 6500 official firmware overview 15/10/2004 Updated! (6/3/2005 10:14:06 PM)

I have a Dell, and flashed from 202c to 203d without any problems using the file from Dell's website

racerboy777 -> RE: NEC 6500 official firmware overview 15/10/2004 Updated! (6/4/2005 1:21:30 AM)

I have also flashed my NEC 6500A to 203D from DELL on my I XPS laptop! I used to have 2.24 from Liggy! Use NECFLASH to flash it and get the BIN file from the first page of this thread.

MP3Mogul -> RE: NEC 6500 official firmware overview 15/10/2004 Updated! (6/4/2005 6:39:42 AM)

Racer,

   I would just like to ask a question?  Why would you flash to 2.03D (Dell) from Liggy's 2.24?  Liggy's 2.24 has bit setting and riplock removed??? Why would you go to a firmware that does not?  The Latest is not always the "greatest" in firmware.

Hi all first post here!!

Just thought i would confirm that bridging pins 45 and 47 on the connector of the ND-6500A worked like a charm on my Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100.

The ND-6500A was made in Feb '05 firmware v2.24. Still a bit confused as to which firmware is the latest as the versions seem to jump all over the place!

Hi All

I guess my problem is on the borderline of what relates directly to firmwares issues. Hopefully some of you will consider answering anyway.

I have a Clevo M400A which at the moment utilizes a HDD on pri.master and a 6500A (FW = 2.24) on pri.slave.
I have made the following observations:
- If the disk drive is present (mounted if you like) and enabled in BIOS the M400A detects the 6500A during POST
- If the disk drive is present (mounted if you like) and disabled in BIOS the M400A detects the 6500A during POST
- If the disk drive is removed from the M400A, the 6500A is NOT detected during POST
- Setting HDD as slave results in the 6500A not being detected during POST as well

Up until now, this hasn't been a problem. But as my new SATA harddisk finally has arrived I would very much like to sort out the problems with the 6500A not being detected unless a disk drive is present as pri.master.

With my scarce knowledge of notebook infrastructure, my best guess is that the problem relates to the fact that the notebook BIOS can not detect a slave (non-disk) drive without a master connected. Anyone who agrees or disagrees on this view?

So (finally) my question is: Is there a way to revert the drive to operating as a master drive (from R-ATA to ATA), i.e. using firmware 4.24 in stead of 2.24 or does the solutions presented in this thread only work the other way around?

Thx in advance

ps. Sorry for the long and potentially uninteresting post

MP3 MOGUL, wow thanks for letting me know, i completely forgot to take that into consideration. I'm going to flashback ASAP! I thought that maybe this DELL firmware would let me burn to DVD-R at 8x, but i guess not.

amiroo -> Amilo 1424 notebook optical drive problem (6/14/2005 4:30:20 AM)

Hi dear emperor
I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo M 1424 with combo CD-DVD RW drive, NEC ND-6500A with 2.40 firmware.
It can not read some CDs (games,..) that are ok with other computer drives.
1-Some says that laptop drives are optically weak compared with desktops. Is it true? Or it is related to firmware.
2-Is rewriting CD in another speed solve the problem?
3-Is changing the firmware help the problem? Which firmware ?
4-If YES would you explain how I can change it to 2.23 or 2.24 in a simple way because
I couldn’t manage to work with BINFLASH. Is there any other windows environment user friendly program?
5-Or any firmware that directly update 2.4 to 2.24
Thanks a lot
