With patched firmware you can boost reading up to 16X, enjoy and tell us about your results

I've got another flavor of the m1802 and OEM fw 1B04 and cannot flash with anything off the rpc1.org site.  Get NO PERMISSION TO FLASH as the error message.  Is there any way around this "lock" ?   I already posted on rpc1.org fw forum and no response.  Thought I'd try here to see if anyone knows about this error or how to circumvent.  The DVD unit is from a standalone DVD player.  Is standard IDE connections...

make sure you have the correct firmware, if it is an oem 1802 the apprpriate firmware or if it is a Toshiba the ooficial. Check in Toshiba's website if they mention anything about configuration. For example, altough I don't think so, it is possible o have it as secondary master in order to flash it...just an idea.[:)]

In "Comparing TOSHIBA DVD-ROM for Transfer Graphs" thread, the drive uses firmware version V1034.
Hijacker has V1031 and TDB has WS1031/34/51 and something called FunPack.
Where is V1034?

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1691

there is a v1051 already and the v1034.

But they are the official firmwares, not the unlocked.

yes, I just say this since if you cannot flash with such a firmware then better at least have the latest one.

How are the ones on the TDB site no unlocked?  They are RPC1 + RipLock + 10x for +/-R(W)...

talos_2002 -> RE: Toshiba M1802 Firmware. Plese help me.. (11/8/2005 3:51:18 PM)

But no V1034 version.

I think you're confused.  Hijacker's reference to "no read limit" is now known as "riplock".  Therefore the TDB firmwares contain everything you want/need.  I'd skip the "fun pack" since spinning +/-R(W) media faster than 10x on playback could be risky, but YMMV...

talos_2002 -> RE: Toshiba M1802 Firmware. Plese help me.. (11/29/2005 7:16:00 PM)

I tried flashing all firmwares found at http://hijacker.rpc1.org/toshiba_nolimit/
and all the XS firmwares from http://tdb.rpc1.org/#M1802  (not the fun pack)

+/-R discs are read at max of 8x.
I checked DMA and closed all other programs. What am I doing wrong?

This is with firmware XS1051RS (TDB's) reading a Taiyo Yuden dvd-r.

The "No Read Limit" refers to all types of media or just those with DVD-Video content?

How about trying with  Nero's Drive Speed to set the speed of the drive up to 16X?
