It is not the Forceaspi 1.7. my patch is a lot easier to use and it Does work on any vrsion of Windows including XP.

Oh yeah I nearly forgot
And after you have applied the patch you can upgrade your ASPI with Adaptech Aspi anytime.!!!

This did not solve my problem, sorry to say. I cannot get the player to recognize anything in the drive. On my computer it shows up with correct name under sytem hardware properties (says working properly). But when I put disc in it spins for 15-20 sec. then stops. I cannot access the disc. Says drive not ready/ not accessable. I ran the ASPI file you gave me, and even went to Adaptec and updated to ver 4.7. Also flashed the CD to ver 2.5. I am running win98SE and it used to work. Also took apart and cleaned lens. Nothing seems to work.
Any other ideas would be appreciated.

I'm also looking for the 249k file to help me get past the error msgs when installing the firmware updates for this phillips cdrw. I've spent hours trying to get this to work without success. I'm using Win XP. Get the same msgs about needing ASPI even though it seems to be installed correctly according to the ASPI checker. Scanned the web for the past 2 hrs & finally found your messages. Thanks for your help w/ all of us...

Got it, worked fine. My ASPI files were "not installed correctly". I corrected it, then the Phillips firmware updater worked fine. My digital audio extraction is faster, recognized certain audio cd's it did not do before the update. Yeah!

Hello every1. Unfortunately, I am having the exact same problem as every1 else on this forum with my PCRW804 drive. I tried run ther firmware and it said that it wasnt installed on my system. Laffin Assasin, can u also email me with the file that u sent to every1 else?
I would really appreciate it.

I have just e-mailed you a zip file
It is only 249k.
Just unzip it into a folder and follow the instructions and that should cure your problems.
