Ferryman -> Best writer (4/10/2004 6:07:44 AM)

I am looking for a writer that will do safedisk 2 or higher I have heard the optorite cw5201 will do this but not sure i know the old lite on may do this but they are very hard to get now please can somebody give me some advice on whether i should buy this or not

MP3Mogul -> RE: Best writer (4/10/2004 4:12:22 PM)

That is a fine drive, also, take a look at the new LiteOn writers and Plextor ones as well. Also, consider a DVDR Drive, the LiteOn ones are excellent at copy protection, and not very expensive right now as well, especially with the new 12X and 16X writers on the Horizon, you can get an 8X for around 100.00 USD.

The optorite cw5201 can only handle SafeDisc up to version 2.50. If you want to handle the newer versions of SafeDisc, I suggest you get a: LiteOn 52327s. I've heard it struggles with the absolutely latest SafeDisc, but it is the best drive you can get for your money.

Liteon's are good value for money if you don't mind having vertualy no customer support but if you do want good customer support and want to copy most of the new games I suggest you try a Plextor Premium 52x and I don't think you will be dissapointed !!! [:)]

vbguru_12000 -> RE: Best writer (4/10/2004 6:15:48 PM)

Plextors are very expensive though.

Laffin Assassin -> RE: Best writer (4/10/2004 6:49:28 PM)

As I have said many times "You Get What You Pay For" !!! [:)]

MP3Mogul -> RE: Best writer (4/11/2004 1:35:59 PM)

The Plextors are no more expensive than any other writer where I live unless you are going "bargin basement" hunting, and get a cheap unknown drive.

vbguru_12000 -> RE: Best writer (4/11/2004 1:55:45 PM)

The cheapest I've found the Plextor Premium is $75USD. The LTR-52347s can be found for $34. I would definantly qualify that as a lot cheaper.

Laffin Assassin -> RE: Best writer (4/11/2004 4:12:16 PM)

Yeah well perhaps they last twice as long !!! [:)]

vbguru_12000 -> RE: Best writer (4/11/2004 4:52:26 PM)

The Plextor PlexWriter Premium has a MTBF or 60,000 hours, while the LTR-52327s has a MTBF of 70,000 hours. Obviously, the LiteOn has an average life longer then the Plextor.

Laffin Assassin -> RE: Best writer (4/11/2004 5:03:09 PM)

Yep and I would like to bet that you believe that the USA landed on the Moon !!! [:D]

vbguru_12000 -> RE: Best writer (4/11/2004 5:23:09 PM)

I'm sorry, but you must be extremely gullible to believe what a bunch of conspiracy-theory, rednecks comeup with.

Laffin Assassin -> RE: Best writer (4/11/2004 5:33:28 PM)

No I am far from Gullible as you will find out if you carry on making stupid posts on Our Forum such as "putting a Keyboard in a Dishwasher to cure beer being spilt on it" !!! [:(]

vbguru_12000 -> RE: Best writer (4/11/2004 6:05:44 PM)

Ok, first I'd like to know what your problem is with me? I have done nothing but been helpful to the people of these forums. Secondly, I would be more then happy to continue the arguement about both the lunar landing or the keyboard (do a search on Google, everything I've said will be backed), both of which I have significant resources to back my arguements. However, this arguement should be kept off the forum and done in private. Feel free to contact me via MSN/AIM.

Laffin Assassin -> RE: Best writer (4/11/2004 8:56:30 PM)

Firstly I have got a problem with no one and is telling someone to put a keyboard in a dishwasher after he was asking for help after he spilt beer on it helpfull I think not !!! [:(]
Secondly I have no intention of contacting you over the Moon Issue if you believe it fine !!! [:D]

Ferryman -> RE: Best writer (4/12/2004 5:47:16 AM)

Thanks for your support, I will definatly try out these two drives i will probably go for the one that is most avilable to me first, if anyone has got any more info that would be grateful, I have heard that the chipset that is good for EFM errors is mediatek which are found some asus models.
