i have an mpg video file and i would like to just take the audio out and turn it into an mp3. does anyone know of any good programs i can do this with. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try TMPGEnc (Utils -> De-Multiplexer)

Thank you very, very much. but i can only get it to go to an mp2, is there any way to get it to a mp3?

VirtualDub will also do the trick very nicely...........
