I've been trying to update the firmware on my Philips DVD+RW-D28 (v1.29) to the F/W available on CDRINFO (V1.51 for philips DVDRW228) Philips USA assures me the D28 and 228 are the same drive.

Attempts to update the firmware error off with msg.

Cannot Update for different type code
*** NG ** NG ** NG ***
Mahe sure seleceted source file.

I believe the crux of the problem is my OEM drive is D28, and the 'real' philips drive is designated 228. Can anyone offer info on how to resolve this problem? [V]
