I am not quite aware that there is such a new DVD Movie format called XDVD.
Anyone knows about XDVD?

OK, I just do some search, and find below information is good to explain XDVD:

Introduction of the XDVD (eXtended DVD) format

A new format called XDVD has been developed based on DVD-Video standard, to allow longer hours. Though the length of GOP(Group of Pictures) is limited to 18 frames in the DVD-Video standard, concerning the XDVD format, one GOP can contain up to 60 frames! High-quality and high-compression can be realized in the same time. For instance, it is possible with that format to put 10 hours of video in a 4.7 GB DVD !!!

I haven't tested it, it seems like a closed source format, i think already the released Mpeg4 codecs are fine..

Ya, MPEG4 should be fine. But the benefits of XDVD is you can play it on most of DVD Player.
Actually, I only found some Chinese TV series are made in XDVD.
A whole set with 1,899 mins now only need to have 3 DVD discs.

BTW, there are already some DVD being made with MPEG4 format and sold in the market.

Mpeg4 is quite standard now , most DVD players support or will support it at the near future, XDVD seems a closed format, nero digital also made its appearance, we will see how the market envolves
