NEC-3520A modified firmware available!

hi what is riplock removed mean

what does the firmware do for the nd3520a drive ok as im new to the dvd drive ok and im haveing a problem with it using nero suite 3 ok i have camcorder footage ok which i want to put onto a dvd ok i can capture the video ok but when i follow the instructions as to put it onto a dvd -r disc it goes all through the process then when its about half way through burning it fails and state that it infastructure failed do you know how i can do this so it burns the whole process without any problems i have tried burning the video footage onto dvd via videostudio6 and it got near the end of the process and it crashed as so to speak now all i have is a few coasters instead of dvds
any answers appreciated i tried nero support line and was told to email them with details but all they came back with was rubbish complete waste of time they were to me ,as i had already updated nero in order to try to solve the problem , i have spoke to the suplier whom suplied the drive and nero they told me my drive dosent need a firmware update and as i dont know what the firmware actually does im not 100 per cent sure whether to do the firmware or not in fear i might mess the drive up and waste the money it cost me ok please help me asap if you could you seem to know alot about the drive so this is why im asking you
