I hope this is in the right spot but anyway here is my problem my leadtek nvidia 6800 GT is over heating every time i try and play anything hope you have got some tweeks for me ,my system is

MSI K8N NEO2 PLATNIUM
1gig corsair pro 2.2.2.5
3x westerndigital 120gig SATA Drives (RAID)
3500+ AMD64
Leadtek 6800GT

Have overclocked the VGA?

Did you remove the cooler for a while and placed it back without the appropriate volume of thermal paste?

yer i pulled it out of my p4 3.2 yesterday and it was running fine the card is about 8 weeks old

Is there any power supply on the VGA? Is it connected?

yep everthing is plugged in iggy it wont start if its not

but here is the kicker iggy in idle the temp of the processor is a scorching 60.9degrees australian

please tell us:
what power supply do you have? Brand, Watts, fans, etc
how many fans do you have in the case? how are distributed? is the fan on the 6600GT working?
which kind of case is it?
Also, describe the problem you encounter... with details.

Temperature is indicated as °C (Celsius degree) or Farenheit?

I have seen the same problem with a VGA where it was overclocked, probably a return sample.

Another question, does the cooler contacts perfectly the chipset?

Thermaltake 420 watt power supply
2x Pioneer A07
1x Pioneer A08
ThermalTake Xaser3 Running 7 Cooling Fans ,2 front Fans blowing over the hdd's ,2 side fans blowing over the motherboard card etc ,2 back fans blowing out the back ,1 top fan blowing air out the top

ok with that of the way here is my problem

playing games my 6800gt gets to roughly 50°C it sit idle at 34°C degrees the games lock up for a few seconds maybe 15-20secs and plays for another 30 seconds and does it again and it keeps doing this till i turn the game off and a it has really bad rendering problems when it starts to play up the screens jumps around you see through walls etc. and as soon it is back to the desk top it runs fine

but my processor also seems to be running hot correct me if im wrong but sitting typing on this forum and i noticed my cpu is sitting on 60.9°C degrees isnt the little to hot as well

iggy yes everything is sitting properly and contacts are spot on

fixed the cpu temp it is now 43°C idle

if the card and cpu are running ok could it be a driver issue and not a over heating problem im running the stardard drivers that come with the board nvidia 5.03 from msi and the nvidia drivers 66.93 for the 6800gt
