According to the posted picture (which is the same on my PC ) DVD+R is set by default to DVD-ROM , you just can't chage it to anything else. I can confirm That a Benq DVD+R I burned has a booktype setting of DVD-ROM according to Nero , DVDinfo ,WinBType v2 and binflash 0.95

Strange. Am I the only one, where the DVD+R default booktype is DVD+R when using 2.18 ?

I flashed the 2.16 before flashing 2.18, but that shouldn't make a difference ?

eros, what firmware were you using before you flashed to the most recent 2.18/2.18 SE??? Which one are you using now that has the booktype set to -ROM, SE or non-SE version?

I used 2C8_SE_Ritek_4X_DL before flashing to 2.18 SE . I had the same bitsetting in the previous version.

Erm... Can someone explain what they meant by that? I backed up my firmware and flashed it back already and it worked fine...

Are you sure about that? This whole bitsetting/booktype setting thing is pretty new to me. I thought if a setting couldn't be changed, its default was whatever the media format was. In this case, DVD+R media burned would have its booktype set to DVD+R?

Warranty will be lost during false updating procedure, especially modified firmwares were

It is true such "hacks" offer a recovery function, but their manufacturers had only assembled
firmwares (NEC will never release original firmwares!), so you will never have the safety,
that your drive has the original firmwareversion again!
In such cases we could not offer you a solution any more. You have to repair unit by cost then.

-it is recommend to login as administrator under Windows XP/ 2000

-disconnect all external USB / FireWire devices.

-do not turn off power during the updating process.

Yes, it even includes my firmware so if I lost it, I can download from this site hehe. Well its cool, a lot of FW on one place. But keep in mind he collects them from forums, so I am more grateful to Emperor and his friends for firmwares. Thanks!
