Ohhh Yeahhhhh. I think Benq is doing a great job with these firmware-upgrades/support. Very nice burnquality. Emperor do you have any idea when we can expect this firmware?
Couple days or weeks?

I think the firmware should be out soon among with the TE/FE utility, BenQ will stop producing DW1620A as retail and will rename it to DW1620 Pro, with the only difference the 4X DL and the TE/FE utility, which of course are free updates for all DW1600/1620A users.I think the most important part is to see how the drive behaves with DVD-R media...

As soon we prepare something, will be posted!

I have a Question !!!
If Firmware version B7P9 is out but not on Benq site,
then what is wrong with it.
3 updates from B7M9 ????
Needless to say I'm a NEW user

My 1600 at 1620 just keeps getting better. Ken and I got one of the first OEM's from Office Depot when they first got them in and had a small rebate (that neither of us have recieved yet) still a great drive anyways.

that reminds me I think I already recieved my rebate but I have to look for it again.
I will check and let you know, I think i got it about 1 or 2 weeks ago. so you 2 should have had yours by now since I think you probably mailed yours first.

I'm pretty much ready to reclaim BenQ as the 'LiteOn' of DVD writers:

- lots of firmware upgrades
- new features (burn capabilities) with firmware upgrades
- very good writing quality most of the time
- very good reading quality
- useful disc compatibility testing (with CD-DVD Speed)

That's what LiteOn offered on the CDRW writer front not so long ago, but something which LiteOn has utterly failed to deliver on the dvdrw burner front.

BenQ has clearly caught up and overtaken LiteOn, imho.

The King is dead, long live the new king :)

And all this withOUT 3rd party hacked firmware, no less!

regards,
Halcyon

PS I'm not saying BenQ is _the best_ or anything such silliness, just that it has imho, taken the proverbial place of LiteOn as the most firmware upgradable and increasingly useful burner.

Why not tested with PX-712A, which is an average reader, instead of BENQ DW-1620 which is too good a reader to be indicative of the universal readability of the burn?
Was it just to test the new firmware at 16X ?
