It would appear the KX18D Pro 2 uses a fairly standard Silicon Image SATA RAID chipset
The KX18DS pro " has the Sata RAID within the Nvidia southbridge and performs slighly better.

If you were sourcing linux drivers - the more common Silicon Image would probably be easier to find drivers for, otherwise I'd favour the "special".
