I would suggest using the v2.C8 firmware, instead of 2.F9 cause its newer and have better writing speeds fro DVD+R format

Okay, i got the 2C8. But how i can keep myself aware when there is better firmware available. Atleast in here is no such information which one is the best or suggested.

Edit: I noticed that the 2C8.bin file is modified 6.10.2004 and 2F9.bin is modified 30.10.2004, so according to this 2F9 should be newer.

But so far i trust more to emperors word than those dates.

Thanks.

I might not completely understand your question, but checking these forums is a great place to find out about new firmware and which ones are currently the best. Emporer usually posts pretty descriptive information about what's new and different with each firmware release.

I am having problems getting RiTek/RiData 8X R03 DVD+R's to be acknowledged anything above 4X (shows 2.4 and 4x) in Nero 6.6.0.01 (running 2.C8 SE)
Here's my info...Any ideas?

Well, NERO 6.6 did show 2.4x and 4X, but when I tried to write with them, I sat threre for 5 min, then spit it out.

My drive is handling 8X Ridata DVD-R's and Memorex DVD+RW 4X without problems.

Anyone else have a problem with 2.C8 and Ritek/Ridata 8X DVD+R's ?\

Hello All,

I've been reading this forum for quite some time as a guest and finally decided to register. I took the dive and ordered my 3500a last nite...hopefully will get here ASAP!

A quick question about the firmware -- just want to know if 2C8 eliminates the riplock, or do I have to download TDB 2F9? I know 2C8 has better writing speeds, but I don't want to wait around 3x as long to rip anything.

Thanks for any and all replies.

In order to remove the ripping limits either get the TDB releases or the SE builds as found at this forum

According to Emperor info about firmwares I think that the best firmware is 2.F9... It has better DVD+R stategy (1.56g) than 2.C8 (1.55t), but worst in DVD+R9 (1.24g in 2.f9, and 1.24r in 2.c8).
So what do you think wchich one is the best? I don't use double layer DVD's

Emperor,
Does the MadDog 2.F9 automatically change the booktype to DVD-ROM like the 2.C8_SE ??
