Hi 2.C8-SE users!
With the 2.C8-SE firmware I cannot delete my DVD-RW (previously burned with 2.16). I can still read it, but Nero reports an "invalid disk"-error, when I try to delete it. (both fast and full mode don't work).
My DVD+RW disk works OK.

If this is a normal problem with different firmware, I recommend to delete all RW-disks before flashing to new firmware!

I am running 2.C8 and I can erase DVD+RW just fine with TMPeg DVD Author and DVDInfoPro. Give DVDInfoPro a try.

I' don't have particular requirements during my burning...do you think this is the correct and optimal firmware's situation for me?

however I will follow your council...i'll search the optical media cerified to 16x speed...even if creed is difficult to find them :-) (((

thanks a lot for you patience...and sorry for my badly/schoolar lang.

TDK 1616n

Officially Released Firmware Binaries (Attached below)
* 277.bin (Stock Firmware for many 1616n drives, Supports DVD+R9 DVD-ROM Bitsetting, Supports Ritek D01 DL)
* 278.bin (First Official Firmware Upgrade from TDK Europe, Supports DVD+R9 DVD-ROM Bitsetting, Supports Ritek D01 DL)
* 2C7.bin (First Official Firmware Upgrade from TDK Singapore, Supports DVD+R/+RW/+R9 DVD-ROM Bitsetting, Supports Ritek D01 DL)
* 2C8.bin (Second Official Firmware Upgrade from TDK Singapore, Supports DVD+R/+RW/+R9 DVD-ROM Bitsetting, Supports Ritek/Ricoh DL at 2.4X)

* The 2.78 firmware is originated from Europe and the it has been fine-tune to support the additional DVD media for the best write strategies. However, the booktype settings is only applicable to DVD+R DL which has been preset in the firmware to DVD-ROM.

* The 2.C7 was released in Singapore and intended to support the Singapore local DVD media which is commonly found in the retail. In addition, there was numerous request to have the booktype settings implemented for DVD+R SL and DVD+R DL. Therefore this has been preset to DVD-ROM in the firmware itself.

* v2.C8 change log:
1. Added support for Sony 8x DVD+R Media (MID Code : SONYD11)to burn at 12x.
2. Added support for CMC 16X DVD+R (MID code : CMC MAG M01)
3. Improve the write strategy for Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD+R (MID Code : YUDEN000 T02) to burn at 16x.[
4. Improve the write strategy for Prodisc 16x DVD+R (Prodisc R04)
5. Auto Booktype settings to DVD-ROM for DVD+R & DVD+R DL respectively
6. Added support for Benq 8x DVD+R to burn at 12x(MID code : DAXZON AZ2)

My nec3500 fw 2c8 (WinXP Pro Sp2) burn all 8x max @4x.
I have also tried the Taiyos Yuden T02 with the firmware 2c8, uselessly, 12x really burning at 4x :( (15 minutes)
I have tried with alcohol 192(build 1705) and Nero Reloaded 6.6.0.1.
Help me please...

Thank's

Cyrus,

The 3500A will only burn at 16x on select brands of 8x media. You can find a listing of 8x media that will burn at 16x right here:

http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews/Specific.aspx?ArticleId=10711&PageId=11

Make sure you have Nero CD-DVD speed and Drivespeed set to use your drive's maximum burn speed. These are in the Nero Toolkit folder on your start menu.

I'm kinda confused. I ordered NEC 3500 (should arrive next week), and I'm looking for the new firmware already. So there are firmwares for NEC 3500(with A/with AG) is there difference? Are they same?

I downloaded the 2F9.bin and BinFlash but i'm still not sure do i have the right firmware? Which one is the best firmware? I've once ****ed up a flashing one of my motherboards bios chip but for my relive there were easily replaceable bios chip so i could do the hotswapping but i'm afraid that in dvd drives there isn't :)

Thanks.

Welcome to CDRinfo's Forum!

A and AG are the same.

I don't know the specific firmware, is it new?
