(I hope this is the proper forum) I have a 3500AG with the 2.19 firmware. I just gout a bunch of new CDR media (admittedly really cheep) media. They say on the package 1x-52x, but the drive only allows 8x & 16x. I would like to know two things: 1 – How does it come up with this … it cant possibly have a table for every brand and type of media? (a link to another thread/doc would be acceptable.) 2 – I would like to try higher speeds for this specific media and see what results I get, but if I flash a firmware that allows any speed for any media, I will obviously loose the feature to auto-detect proper burn speeds for other media. Is there any way for me to hack the firmware myself to allow higher speeds just for this media? (I have a lot of computer and programming skills … just never done anything with firmware before.) Alternately, is there a firmware that would allow me to turn the write speed limits on and off without re-flashing every time? Thanks to all the firmware Gurus in advance.
