Tomorrow we will release the review of the TEAC DV-W512G, which is an LiteON SOHW-1213S OEM drive. The drive arrived with T4S5 firmware (quite old), so we used the newest firmware of 1213S (TS0C) to perform all reading/writing tests.

For that purpose we transformed the TS0C to T4S6 with the TEAC ID, which is attached

when is going to be released an official firmware from teac for this drive, cuz i'm having some problems with dvd recording quality

The 1213S series and its rebadges (Teac, TDK, etc.) are, IMHO, a dead-end line of drives. Poor writing quality and stuck with using inferior Z-CLV writing. Convert your drive to a 1633S, and you'll get MUCH better writing quality. Plus newer firmwares.

i did it man, 10x a lot again, but this is so weird, on the drive is writen TEAC, but i have LITE-ON, i hope that this firmware will get things better now, i can't wait to test it

I think at Cdfreaks, there is not one single 1213S that has not been crossflashed to 1633S - no because of any great desire to get 16x or DL, but because the 1213S is DEAD - no new or leaked firmware, and even the earliest of the 1633S firmware was leaving it for dead, quality-wise.

We expected Liteon to do a retrofit of the 16x firmware improvements to the 12x - they haven't yet!
The other drives based on similar chipsets (the "2S" DVDR family, including the 451S and 851S), normally get concurrent updates - as they obviously base it on the same core.
