You know what the saying is here in the U.S., "Ford" means "Fix Or Repair Daily"!

4 Fords, 1 Dodge Neon now....

Laffin, they have much improved the Taurus's since 89... But also 98 percent of the transmission failures are due to owner negligence, the transmission is required to be serviced every 30K miles.

Well, I changed my TRANSMISSION fluid (In the Taurus I had) every 15,000 miles, so it should have lasted longer than it did!!! And where did you get that LIE from about the fault being "Owner's negligence" 98 percent of the time and Ford doesn’t give out any statistics like that? You're saying that you and a few others are the only "Nit-wits" who know how to have their cars serviced. Well, it tells me and anyone who has any sense at all that FORD is bad news. And I'll put my 2003 Accord EX-V6 up against your 2005 ford Taurus any day and SMOKE IT. AND AS YOU CAN SEE WE BOTH LIVE IN THE STATE OF VIRGINIA AND ONLY A COUPLE HOURS AWAY, since Roanoke (Where you live) is in the hill country.

Really???

REALLY, and MP3Mogul knows it too! And I know that saying has been around since at least the 1950's!!! I don't know whether you’ve noticed but starting in 1989 Ford had a model called “The Taurus SHO” (SHO=Super High Output) but Yamaha was building that engine for Ford. But Yamaha stopped building the engine for that model so Ford has dropped it from their line! The engine was too powerful for the transmission that ford was building to put with it, Ford seemed not to be successful at coming up with a suitable Transmission for that engine and therefore, like I said dropped it from their line. And I know this is fact! Talk to just about any Auto magazine editor about this issue and they will tell you and you might be able to search Google for the info.

Hey Iggy, read this article if you get the time just to let you know that Yamaha isn't a second class engine builder! http://popularmechanics.com/outdoors/boating/2001/11/4-stroke_bass_boat_motors/print.phtml

The Taurus is fine.......

Where did I get my information? All you have to do is a simple "Google Search"....

Besides, I have a minor in automotive engineering... so COUGH... think perhaps I know what I'm talking about.

As far as a Honda, toyota, or "whatever" smoking the taurus...... I only drive the speed limit anyway. I drive like an old Grandma...........

My wife always complains to me that see is dizzy, and I have to slow down.

I love to turn fast in squares.

I don't care what your MINOR is you're only displaying your ignorance here!

Also, post that "Goggle Search" link you're talking about!!! And since you claim a MINOR in Automotive Engineering then you should KNOW that it was Honda and Toyota among other Foreign auto makers that MADE these U.S. car manufacturers produce some real cars and stop selling the American consumer a lot of junk cars!!! That’s why Honda and Toyota have taken about thirty (30) to forty (40) per cent of the auto market in the U.S. When I had that Taurus I had to change the water pump every fifteen thousand (15,000) miles among others things. And I’ll be willing to say that it hasn’t changed much from that.

Yes, this was a problem with the Taurus, and the entire cooling system on "ANY" 3.0L engine produced by Ford, which was also fixed with a 15.00 repair that ceased the problem.

Of "COURSE" Honda and Toyota made america make better cars, that's the way things work. Hyundai offers a 10 year / 100000 mile warranty, but doesn't make me want to buy the junk....

Being in the USA, I prefer to support workers and American companies.... if I lived in Japan, I'd buy a rice burner, if I lived in Korea, I STILL wouldn't by a Hyundai.. LOL...

Yeah, keep it friendly.... noob
