No...The three different firmware revisions give you different abilities, i would suggest using the NEC v1.07 DLBS, check other topic.

Hi Emperor Thxz for the answer

I flashed my 2500 with the 107v2b5d.bin file.

Question 1 :Now the region control is set to RPC1, it was RPPII is this a problem for me in "the netherlands"
I see that Region Code is set to : All that's OK i'll think ;-)

Question 2 : I still don't have the options (RAW DAO 16, RAW SAO 16, RAW DAO) what does this do? And must i fixed it?

Best regards

Dear dbretton, the only reason is that we must first obtain several DVD players before be able to test, how that sounds?

It sounds understandable.

I suspect that it would be rather easy to bring the DVD down to a local electronics or department store (e.g. in the US: Circuit City, Best Buy, Tweeter, Sears, Wal-Mart, Service Merchandise, etc.) and use the DVD players there.

If you have sufficient media, I would be happy to test out a copy on my home player, and I would pay for shipping both ways.

Are there any test results for the new 2510 v2.15 firmware on a 2500a with DL Media?

Guys need your help... I flashed my drive from 2500a to 2510a but my regular disks are coming out worse. I had 2500a 1.07v2 beta 5 installed before the coversion. I wonder if there is a way to implement the good writing strategies that were included in the beta flash to the 2510a. Let me know, and if not, how do I covert back?

at least for now, herrie hasn't added any special writing strategies. Why you flashed drive with 2510A firmware? The 2500A v1.07v2 beta5 includes DL writing!

Some folks have reported less media problems with the real 2510 firmaware but it doesn't have bitsetting or extra media support so I've stay'd with b5. You can flash back to the other by getting its bin file and using the dos flasher you used to get the 2510 firmware installed. Herrie should have both version on his many threads about the betas.
I have also burned a DL disk and it has played fine in both of my settop players even though the error levels weren't the best.

Be aware that PI/PIF error rates as reported from the LiteON drives are not real at all, with so high error rate the disc, according to the LiteON drives, should be unreadable

it seams that liteons are generally having troubles with reading this DL disks - the same as regular settop players I have just flashed mine with Herries 1.07 beta 5 without any problems I can still write +RW 4x (TDK Philips01) and it works with my SONY 405 wihtout any problems (I could even write Varbatim MCC 002 with 8x as well!!) I do not really see any reasons to use 2510 bios but maybe I am wrong.

besides using a liteon drive in combination with kprobe, what other ways do you guys test your disks. As I mentioned before, I flashed my nec 2500 to 2510 f/w 2.15. Now my PI and PO in kprobe are 400 - 500 in PI and 6 - 11 in PO.

I do a transfer rate graph with Nero or what ever you like that will do one. Usually if it gets a nice smooth rising curve the disk will play back fine. Mine dropped close to the layer break on every drive I tested it with but still plays fine on my players. Most dvd players read at 1 to 2x so as long as the disk can play properly at that speed they'll work most of the time.

dja2k, thats a good question, we will use Plextor's PX712A as a second drive and a LiteON DVD-ROM that seems to report better PI/PIF errors for DVD+R DL media!

I write because i've seen double layer media (Verbatim) in an spanish computer store at 70 € the packet of 5 dvd's. The problem is that there are here no DL recorders. Do you already have this media in you countries? Can you test now the compatibility of the recorded dvds (made with NEc)?? thank youu
