setting is called "Set Book Tipe on DVD +R or DVD +rw" but the prog. says that only with compatible drives only!!! read rhe help file to know more I just tested it on Nec's ND2500 patched to 1.07 version You also can wait until someone with equal model of recorder post anything.
I haven't read everythin on the forum & suggest to do it to you 'cause someone could answer on your question already

If you mean playStation & DVD Player As I know best choise'll be DVD-ROM Book Type...

I had some problems in bitsetting but I think I's 'cause of DVDs I'll try other manufacturers...

With the patched firmware, the booktype is set automatically from the drive

Booma, spot on the money. I pluged the NEC in to a USB1 port on another PC and it flashed straight off. Thanks.

Quick ? Everytime I try to d-load the firmware to flash my 2500....all I get is some jummbled up txt file. It has a .rar extension I believe. Anyone have any ideas? thanks

What version of WinRAR are you using? Maybe you need a newer version to unpack the file.

i can get the 2500a and 2500b for the same price. im assuming the 2500b is just because its the black version, but i just want to make sure i can successfully upgrade the firmware. i only see the 2500a being mentioned; will the 2500b firware upgrade work?

I just bought my NEC 2500a and it has fw-v1.05. I know to upgarde to fw-v1.07 off nec's website I need to upgarde to v1.06 first. Do I have to do something similar to upgrade to herrie's fw?

I don't know if the 1.06 offered now by NEC, but why you don't use the 1.07?

I am trying to upgrade to either 1.07 from NEC or Herrie's. The readme file from 1.07 compressed file says I can only upgrade from v1.06 to 1.07, not 1.05 to 1.07 like I have. So I am asking if I need to do the samething for Herrie's.

EDIT: This might be a stupid question but I am looking at NeroInfo Tool and it is telling me that the firmware version is 1.N5. I have been assuming this is 1.05. Is this correct?

Your drive is a NEC 2500A OEM drive, since it has the 1.x5 pattern, you can upgrade to 1.07 by using the DOS version of the NEC unofficial flasher

Tried the windows installer and didn't work. I'm going to try the DOS installer but can you tell me the difference between the 107v2b5d bin file and three bin files that you tested and posted on this forum.
