I've got a Verbatim 321240AL (rebadged LiteOn 32123S). I upgraded the firmware to the xs0x firmware. The drive still reads cds fine, but now I am getting alot of bad burns (with different media -Hi-Val, Verbatim, Sony, or whoever makes their media).

I'd like to flash the drive to an older firmware. I got the xs0u firmware, and the mtkflash file to do that. I reboot into dos, type mtkflash 4 r xs0u.bin (flash 2ndary slave memory), it says it flashes, but by looking in nero it does not update it.

Does anyone know hat I am doing wrong? I'd like to flash it back to one of the older LiteOn firmware versions, or just flash it back to the Verbatim firmware.

Any information would be much appreciated, thanks!

Well you can get the vX8S6 Firmware for Verbatim 321240AL from here :-

Thanks for the quick response Laffin Assassin, I tried to use that already, and I got this message (direct quote)

"can't found 321240al firmware: X8S1-X8SZ drive!


this flash utility only supports 321240al firmware: X8S1-X8SZ "

then it lists my liteon DVD and the LTR 32123S (really my Verbatim drive). I'm trying all kinds of different things to try to get it flashed to an older firmware, but nothing has worked yet..

The flash program sees the drive, I get the message that hte firmware is updated and everything.. strange strange. I didn't save my old firmware, so if anyone had the verbatim 321240al firmware that would be good (not hte entire file, just the bin file).. thx though
