(before go read the drat! specs)

How much does packet writing resemble the method of writing a sector to a floppy disk or harddisk? Does a specific area (1 CDRW "sector", if it exists) need be erased before rewritten?

Where could I find fast and clear specs for this mode of operation? (plz, not tomes that cover the entire universe as well, only packet writing)

*muhaha*

No, sectors do not need to be erased before new data being rewriten to a CD-RW disc. The TOC must be erased though, and if desired a full erase can be perfomed to improve the access time of a CD-RW disc. Lots and lots of "quick" erases (ie. TOC wipes) can result in the disc taking longer than usual to be accessed.

I'm not sure how or if it differs from floppy or HDD recording...
