I had to re-install Windows 2000 on my PC (long story there...), so I decided it's time to get rid of the Adaptec 'bloatware' and give Nero a try. I installed the following:

Nero 5.5.90
InCD 3.31
Nero InfoTools 1.01

Adaptec ASPI driver v4.71 (I only tried this when all elase failed to see if it would help...)

I can use Nero to burn CDs - no problem.

However, I can't get InCD to work - it installs without any complaints and seems to 'see' my CyberLink CW058D drive, but it does not recognize CD-RW's that had been UDF-formatted and burned with Adaptec's DirectCD, not will it format or write to new CD-RW drives.

Also, InfoTools behaves strangely - it always lists my CD-RW drive in the "Configuration" tab, but most of the time it does not list it in the "Drive" tab (it always shows my DVD-ROM drive in the pull-down menu, but not the CyberDrive).

I found all kinds of material in the Nero website about potential conflicts with various drivers, but lot of the stuff there seems dated, and none of it seem to address the exact problems I am facing.

Advice anyone? I am willing to try anything before throwing in the hat and installing Adaptec's stuff.

Hi cpalman
I suggest that you use the pull down menu in Nero 5.5.9.0 and use Recorder/Erase Re-writeable and then try to format it with Incd !
I hope this Helps !

I have similar config (Win2k InCD3.31 Nero5.5.90 - with LiteON 40125W) and InCD doesn't work for me either.
InCD seems to start OK (formats and mounts discs) but part way through writing packets it suddenly sets all files as Read-only and stops writing any further info.
It appears as if a lot of people are having problems with InCD under Win2k! Let's hope Ahead Software get it sorted soon.

PS. I am waiting for the promised firmware update on the CD-RW so I can use Mt.Rainer, which should make things more "interesting".

Same here. I just upgraded to InCD 3.37 but that did not help.
Nero website has been no help. They need a feedback method that does not require you to list every possible thing about your pc.
