InCD and windows XP - 4/26/2002 2:36:40 PM

I have now downloaded InCD 3.23.4 (and I already have Nero Burning Rom v. 5.5.5.2 OEM).

When I run InCD, it detects my TORiSAN DRW-U88824 drive. I continue through the wizard, and click to begin formatting a CD-RW. Formatting begins, but after around 32secs, a 'caution' message appears, saying

Error message: [0055-0002-0004-0008]

Description: The device is not ready.

I don't understand how to remedy this.

Help appreciated.

Cheers,

Tom.

InCD seems to have some issues with WinXP. Sometimes we are also getting such messages. I would suggest doing a FULL format with Nero and then try formatting the disc for packet writing use.

I have two Nero/INCD licenses. Both are for machines running Windows XP Pro with 512 meg of memory. Drives are different.

INCD is not working properly on either of them. I had been hoping to be able to use INCD to transfer files back and forth, using a directory compare utility (Beyond Compare) to synchronize directories in both computers with the CDRW contents. That goal seems a long way off.

Some time ago I submitted a problem report to Nero and - after a considerable wait - received a reply with instructions as to how to proceed. I followed their instructions and replied as requested. They never responded.

For the time being at least, I am totally giving up on INCD.

The Intel IDE chipset for my PC at work is: 82801BA Bus Master IDE Controller. I cannot find any updated drivers for this on www.intel.com, but I may not be looking in the right place.

Here is my last correspondence:

Thank you for responding to me.

Unfortunately, the situation has if anything gotten worse.

I have installed the very latest versions of Nero (5.5.8) and INCD (3.24.3).

Now when I insert a CD-R (Not an INCD, but written with Nero, but on a different computer - I have two licenses) into my drive, the system does not recognize that it contains a disk. The caption in "My Computer" changes from "DVD/CD-RW Drive (D:)" to "CD Drive(D:)" When I attempt to "Open" I get a message box saying "D:\ is not accessible. The request is not supported."

When I insert a generic CD from a software company, everything is OK.

When I uninstall INCD, the problem goes away. I do not have these problems on my home PC (my other Nero license) where I am also running Windows XP Pro, but with a Plextor CDRW, with Burnproof (don't have the model # here). NOTE - SINCE I WROTE THAT, PROBLEM HAS APPEARED ON MY HOME PC!!

There is no IOSUBSYS directory under C:\Windows, c:\Windows\System, or c:\Windows\System32, or anywhere else under c:\Windows.

My drive is a Samsung CDRW/DVD SM-308B. It is fairly new (purchased with a Dell computer within the last few months). I have no idea how to determine the level of firmware. I have looked through the Properties windows under Control Panel.

When you say to close all "Programs" from the task manager, I don't know if you mean "Applications" or "Processes". There are an awful lot of "Processes" that look like they would be dangerous to close down.

BTW, the manual (in PDF format) that I obtained for Nero talks about a filter dialog that allows you to exclude file types such as .BAK, .DCU, etc. I have never figured out how to get to this dialog. The help file index contains no entry under "filter". That index really needs some work; it contains things that look like #defines used to generate context sensitive help.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dear sir/Madam Use this template if you are unable to resolve your
issues. But first try the below troubleshooting technigues....

Trouble Shooting Steps:

1) Use Nero to do a Full Erase on the CDRW media.

2) Upgrade to InCD 3.21 or later, and use this to format the CDRW. But
before you format, use Nero to do a full erase on the
CDRW media, and then use the CTRL-ALT-DEL key to close any programs in
the background, and then use InCD to format the CDRW media.

3) If you have trouble with installing InCD, or its acting strange after
you install. try installing in the following fashion:

a) First uninstall InCD from your system, if you have not already,
through the Control Panels Add/Remove Programs Featrue.

b) Then use the CTL-ALT-DEL Keys(entered all at one time) and close
all programs that show up in the window that pops up, except for SYSTRAY
and EXPLORER

c) Now install InCD 3.231 or later, and then reboot and see if your
issue is resolved.

InCD Query Template:

1. The type of the system, which you have used (windows 95a/95b/98/Me)

2. The exact type of the recorder with the firmware;

3. Have you installed before some packet writing software on your
system?

4. Please, make the list of files from the Windows\System\IOSUBSYS\
directory, to do so,

Please open a DOS-Box and change to the
Windows\System\IOSUBSYS directory.
Please execute the following command:
dir /o >c:\iosubsys.dir
Please send me the new created file c:\iosubsys.dir
After that you can delete this file

And thank you for using Nero
