Has anybody else tried the patch... is the drive stable and reliable at 40x20x10x???
I havent done my drive yet and would like feedback on this ASAP...

Yes it works!

However, with the 1.00 firmware the drive is *extremely* picky with media at 20x (in fact I have only been able to get Ricoh media to work at that speed). I have not been able to get the updated firmware into my drive :( so I have reverted it back to the 16x firmware (1.03) in the meantime.

I tried the OC patch myself... all I get in the following error...

Fail to update.

*** NG ** NG ** NG ***

Turn OFF PC and Reboot it.

I think the 1.01 update isnt quite right...

IF at first it U don't succeed... keep hitting it till it does...

Yup, exactly. The checksum on the file is incorrect. Hopefully john will have a look at it for us (hint!)

The 1.00 file does work though. Could you do me a favour and update your drive with that file and try writing a few discs at 20x? I can't get mine to write discs that can be read back reliably
