If you are using Windows XP then this is what you are looking for. Bring up your Control Panel, then click "Systems", then Device Manager. You look for "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" Double click that. Now you should see "Primary IDE Channel" and "Secondary Channel", Right click "Primary IDE Channel" and click "Properties". Now click on "Advanced Settings". Now make sure that "Transfer Mode" is set to "DMA if Available". Now go to "Secondary Channel" and do this again. All done...
