Hello, does what type of files a mp3 player can play depend on its firmware? if it has firmware? Assuming I know what I'm talking about is there any way to change the firmware on my mp3 player so i can play movies, or watch animated gifs on a mp3 player that normally only plays music and can see pics? Can you put software on a mp3 player to do this?

There is "player" software stored in the "firmware" of your device... i.e. to play the particulars, whether it is an mp3, wave, wmv, etc.

Yes, it is possible to change the firmware in your device to play video, providing it has a screen that is capable, and providing you know "everything" about your device's internal parts, how they function, and how to program it.

Judging by your answer I'm guessing that theres no easy way to just put sumtin on it to do that... Also, when I go through my mp3 player with hidden files turned on and stuff, I don't see anything... well, I mean it just shows my music, pics, and a few irrelivent folders, Is it possible that there are no actual programing files of any sort?

Oh wait I get it now, I was thrown off because I think of firmware more so as hardware, even though it's actually a lot more like software, It didn't occur to me at the time that it would make sense for it to take up space. Thanks

I know it's been a while but assuming I do know everything about my mp3 player, how would I access the firmware in the first place to modify it? Or would I need to physically change it's insides, because if thats the case I lack the electronic components to do so.

Given your questions on the board, I would not attempt to modify any firmware, unless of course you want to go purchase a new item after you destroy the one you are attempting to modify.

I am not attempting to chastise you, I feel you lack any professional expertise required to accomplish a firmware modification, of any level.  It is also evident that you are extremely young, and not very experienced with computer systems.

Holy Baloney that felt chastising... I feel...whats the word....violated...I feel kind of...woozy...gave me vertigo....What just happend?

Anyway I  know I'm young and inexperienced but I'm trying to get better and I'd like to give it a shot even at the risk of breaking it
I know you were not trying to offend me but I really respect how good people like you are with computers and I want to try my best to be like that before I get too old... well... that'd probably be a while but still isn't it easiest to learn stuff if you start young?
