Dear sir:
I don't see hdd on sata 5,6,7,8 in windows xp - Motherboard  P5AD2-E. I don't know what is happening because they work on sata 1,2,3,4 and I can see all hdd in bios.
I have all controllers of the board installed and I tried in bios mode sata and raid without any success.
If you could help me I'd appreciate.
Thanks.
My best regards,
                          Luís Filipe

lfol, You probably need the drivers for the RAID controller (the second SATA controller on the motherboard).  It runs on a different chipset....  Check here at the Silicon Image site.  I think it is the Sil3114 chipset.

Thanks.
I'll check again but I think I use all drivers that came with the cd of the board.
All hdd are sata2, is this a problem?
Thanks again.
My best regards,

Dear Sir:

It's true. I have all the drivers installed. Could you tell me what is the real problem?
Could you help me getting access to the hdd I choose to be on the one of the four sata connection above on this board?
Thanks for all.
My best regards,
                            Luís Filipe

How are you trying to use the drives?  As RAID0/1 or JBOD?  JBOD will not work on the Sil3114 controller.

Have you checked the Asus site for a recent BIOS upgrade that may contain a more recent BIOS for the Sil3114 controller?

I think I need to better understand what you are trying to do with the drives on the Sil3114 controller?

Thanks,

SithT

Dear Sir:
Yes I have the last update of the bios and drivers. I want to use the hdd's in the normal way, not raid. I have one ide drive and five sata hdd's, and my problem is that in bios I see all of them but in windows xp sp2 one of them doesn't appear, no matter hdd I choose to be on that sata controller.
Thanks again. Help me please.
My best regards,
                             Luís Filipe

I don't believe JBOD is available for Sil3114.  In order to use the Sil3114 you likely need to setup a raid array of some type in the BIOS (or if ASUS still does it this way CNTL-A or S -- can't remember get's you into the Silicon Image BIOS to setup the array).  If there are JBOD drivers for Sil3114, you will need to search for them.  This link may help.

Now, I don't own that motherboard, but I might suggest you seek help in the ASUS Forums where you are sure to find someone with your board that has suggestions.
