HI, and thanks once again David Berg for your efforts. I have corrected and updated my profile to indicate the drive lettering, "D" drive is the GSA-4040B and the "E" drive is the LG CED-8120B. I have downloaded and installed the latest version on INCD 4.1.5.7, and installed it. First the bad news; I cannot format any CDRW discs with the Ced-8120B; the results are exactly the same as before; no drive activity; no progress graph, and after approximately 5 minutes, it times out with the same old error message "Error writing to the disc in "E". Please confirm that the disc is compatible with the drive, and is not scratched or damaged". Please note that this drive works well in all other applications, and handles discs already formatted without any problems. I have looked in on other forums, and have found that other users have the identical problem with other drives, so I am not alone with this problem.
Now the good news: I can now format properly with the GSA-4040B drive "D", even on Memorex discs, which it wouldn't before, and I also have a proper progress graph. That is great, because now I can at least use the discs I have. I am uncertain as to whether or not I should start a new topic here or not, since the version has changed, so I guess I will add this note on a new topic? Thanks again, David, and hope these formatting problems can be solved; INCD is a great program to use.

I am able to reproduce the defect with LG CED-8120B. InCD 4 is trying a format command with the media capacity reported by the device to read format capacities command, but the device hangs on this command.

I am working on fixing it.

Ok, it will be fixed in next web update. But I still have to check more 'old' LG/HL-DS-ST devices for safety.

You probably won't have to wait that long, as Ahead updates InCD as soon as a new update is released, not having to wait until the end/first of the month as with Nero.

Actually last time it took us quite a long time to get our changes as stable as we wanted them. ;-)

Currently we would like to add also some fix for particular MRW devices and we are waiting for feedback from the manufacturer to proceed.
