Unzip the file, and run the program (it will say flash a 4164) but go ahead, it's correct and will still identify your drive correctly afterwards.

It seems new LG 4166 comes with a 1.02 firmware

How do you back up the firmware on the LG? I am familiar with LiteOn procedures, and there are tools available for backing up that firmware. How is is done on the LG? Maybe if more people knew how, we could get the newer firmware posted?

Hi..
but where can we find the 1.0.2 Firmware? On LGE Pages nothing to find even not the 1.0 or 1.0.1 /2 ? :(

I've read there is a new LG GSA-4163B firmware A106 available via auto-update and not on LG site yet.

Maybe it's a matter of days for 4166 ?

I can't get the autoupdate program to run, it always fails...

I think that he, like myself, would like to know "where is 1.02"? Why post information here if you don't tell where to find it? This entire LG thing is making me think I made a serious mistake in buying it.

He's posting information to let us know a drive he has came with 1.02, you can't download it because it's not available. I have emailed my friend at the factory and will post back when I hear from him again.

I think it's better to know there is a 1.02, even if there is no way today to get one (the only way I know is to buy a 4166 @ Actualis.com , LOL !).

What mistake have you done ? With the 1.01 provided here in this forum, you have a good DVD burner that is doing LightScribe and DVD-RAM for a few bucks (4166 can be found for a price <50 euros now in europe !).

An example, two 24 minutes passes in best quality :

Hey guys, calm down!!! As you can read in the subject of this post you have the possibility to flash the 1.01 firmware, which - by the way - is NOT available yet. So why are you (idiotic) guys blaming MP3Mogul if he gives you a brandnew firmware and all information he has? If you don't like to have it, flash your old one and simply stay away of the post / wait for LG to release one. Everyone knows, that LG isn't fast to release new firmwares, but on LG drives isn't also necessary... Why? LG drives haven't that many errors as other brands...Example: Benq. My girlfriend has the Benq DW1640. They have released about 20 firmwares of this drive. If you don't use expensive CD-Rs or DVD-Rs every 10th media fails to burn... Such things LG doesn't simply produce! Everything works fine to me with 1.01 and believe me: The GSA-4166B is the best drive out there... So why do you need the 1.02 if you don't even know what they've changed?!?!?!?!
