Hi, just installed an LG GSA-4163B (fw_A103) on a friends XP SP1 computer, jumper set to Master and also Master on Secondary IDE with no other device connected.
When I accessed Device Manager/Secondary IDE/Properties to set DMA there is no 'Advanced Settings' option displayed (to be able to select DMA mode)...is this a hardware or software issue?
Would welcome any ideas...thanks in advance

Does your friend perhaps have intel's application accelerator installed?  If so, this is the reason.  Either you can start Intel's program and it will tell you the current DMA settings, or remove it....then it will show advanced settings.  This is, of course, assuming that it is installed.
