I have searched the forums and can not find the answer, so if it is out here already, sorry for the re-asking.

I have a 3500 that was purchased under the LaCie OEM. We just got some memorex DVD-R 16X (I know not very predictable), and they will only burn at 2X, thus I tried to upgrade to 2.1A using the 'official' NEC firmware upgrade app., but the NEC app. says "target NEC 3500A not found correctly". FYI. Current firmware is 2.07.

LaCie is zero help on this, thus I am here.

Word of caution, I am quite novice on this whole firmware buring and can kinda find my way around a command line, but not my strength.

if you run NEC's firmware normaly it won't work.

its the flasher I think. get binflash and the bin file of the firmware you need.

I guess a more simple question would be then, what firmware version do I use, NEC, other, since I can not find anything specific to LaCie?

Since your drive is a NEC OEM you can use any firmware you like.

All firmware in there can do for your drive. The final decision is yours.
