I flashed my NEC with Liggy 21a_orig.bin. This is the original 2.1 firmware with Booktype setting enabled.

I have set my Book Type with DVDInfo pro for all +R media to DVD-Rom. I verified these settings in necwinflash.

I burned a dual layer tonight and it is identified in my writer and my liteon reader as having a "DVD+R DL" Book Type!

Any ideas?

I have noticed some strange effect when changing booktype with NecWinFlash.

For specific compatibility reasons I needed to booktype a few DVD+RW's as DVD-RW and a few DVD+R's as DVD-R.
I have selected these booktypes with NecWinFlash, but when I tried to check the settings with DVDInfo 4.27 that supports DVD-R(W) setting, it displayed empty values in front of DVD+R and DVD+RW media. After setting required booktypes with DVDInfo correct values have appeared in corresponding fields.

I have reset booktypes with NecWinFlash and tried again, with the same result: DVDInfo does not recognize -R(W) booktype set with NecWinFlash.

Could these differences between NecWinFlash and DVDInfo be the reason for wrong booktype you've got?
If so, you could try to reset the booktypes with NecWinFlash and change them with DVDInfo if needed.

I tried a newer Liggy firmware as well and had the same problem. Flashing back to the NEC official 2.1a firmware solved the problem.

You cannot booktype DVD-R/RW media!
