Hi all! ;-)

I recently bought:
LiteOn/JLMS LTD-166S/XJ-HD166
Plextor PX708A

So i wanted to conduct some Writing-Quality-Tests with KProbe.
I downloaded 1.1.26, which seems to be the most recent version.
My results seem far too good for CDR and very bad for DVD. I set
the ECC to 8 (according to the recommendations of the german
computer magazine c't). I also scanned with ECC set to 1 (still the values are way too high at least by a factor 5).

Please Comment.
Fujifilm DVD+R burned @ 2.4 with ECC set to 1

same DVD but with ECC set to 8

Verbatim Datalife burned @ 16
http://www.unet.univie.ac.at/~a9525538/verbatim--px708a-16--kprobe1126.gif

P.S. The Verbatim was bought from Amazon and has an really odd ATIP:
ATIP: 97m 24s 01f
Disc Manufacturer: Taiyo Yuden Company Ltd.
Reflective layer: Dye (Long strategy; e.g. Cyanine, Azo etc.)
Media type: CD-Recordable
Recording Speeds: min. unknown - max. unknown
nominal Capacity: 702.83MB (79m 59s 72f / LBA: 359847)

I tested a few other CDRs (burned with differnt Writers and Speeds)
and ALL have similar low C1 values (avg<0.005)

DVD-ROMs are NOT good for scanning CD-Rs, they are always inaccurate. As for the DVD scanning, we have yet to find out exactly what drives offer the most accurate reports on DVD quality, so your scans may be 100% accurate, or not at all [:I]

Don't worry, there are tests in progress to see if K-Probe DVD testing is really meaningful or not.
