Can some1 please help me ?
I went here :
http://www.benq-eu.com/ServiceAndSupport/downloads/downloads.cfm?product=750&type=B
and downloaded the FWCHECK.ZIP
it says my firmware version is : BSGB

Now there are 2 options for download in that page, and I dont know which to download ...
I bought my 1640 just yesterday ...
Also- Ive read the Firmware Flash User Guide but I didnt understand it ...
Is it safe to flash or update the firmware of the drive or can it do some damage ?

Do you mind explain this to me ? and how it works ?

also ..BSGB -> BSHB ?

like in the order of the ABC ? so the next update will be BSIB ... ?

Also .. should I update the firmware or ... just leave it as it is ? (because i know of some people that updated their firmware and all of a sudden all hell broke loose) so .. If some1 here has that burner .. I would appreciate some opinions :)

oh .. and thx alot guys !!!

Yeah, it's like alphabetic order, and it is higly recomended that you have the latest firmware for your drive, because it can only make it better by supporting more media, or improving quality of the burns. And the only way that "hell can brake loose", is when in the proces of updating the firmware, the power source is untrerupted and you drives dyes, in some cases for ever.

the name of the CD\DVD doesnt shows ..
and sometimes when I put CD or DVD in the BENQ1640 it says that something is corrupted ..
any1 got ideas ?
should I format my PC and do a clean installation of XP PRO sp2  ?

Can someone plz let me know how to install the BHSB firmware.

Can i extract the ZIP file on my HDD and run it straight? Or will i have to create a bootdisk for DOS and then update the firmware?

Does Flashing a firmware always require rebooting in DOS mode and then running the EXE?

Thanks,
