Looks like Plextor FINALLY did it!

I did some tests with 1.06, and as you'll see below, FANTASTIC!!!!! finally this drive writes at 16X WITHOUT PowerRec enabled, and the results are superb.

This download was a .bin format, you'll need a flasher if you grab it, I don't see it posted anywhere, or advertised anywhere, but I did several tests with both TY and MCC media, and it reaches full 16X on both without PowerRec, and the results are astounding. Finally, I am satisfied with my Plextor!

Yeah,

I read that little TINY changelog, but I "ASSURE" you they did something else that they aren't mentioning, because I have extensively tested their 1.05 firmware and it was HORRIBLE for me, but 1.06 is superb. Perhaps an engineer made a mistake they don't want us to know about.

As to which media I used above, I used Fuji 8X (TY) media, also used MCC004 Verbatim 16x, the results were almost identical. Each media reached 16X without any problem at all, and I could not get 1.05 to do this with the same media.

you know I still cannot burn at 16x it burns at 10x
maybe because of my system specs

P4 1.9Ghz 1gb or crucial Ram
60gb HD 7200rmp
no sata but IDE 100
my Plextor is on Slave do you think because of that shold I change it to master

The CD-R burning is at 47.5x which is really good its just the DVD+R and my media is Fuji TY CD-R and DVD+R

Yes, I would try changing it to master, it should burn at 16x now, your system specs are fine for 16x.

you know I burned DVD+R DL Verbatim made in Singapure and it burned 2.4x DVD9 at 6x but DVD+R wont burn at 16x strange. So I guess I'll change it to master
