I have an ASUS CD-S480/A4 from a Compaq computer. HP/Compaq was very helpful (NOT!) in posting a bogus firmware upgrade that killed the drive. The drive's firmware was version .89, and the upgrade was to version .90. IF you have a Compaq and are thinking of applying this update, DON'T!! I've contacted Asus directly to see if they can help, but I'm not expecting much. Compaq/HP had NO CLUE!! Now, I am looking to revive the firmware so I can use the drive again. Anyone have info for me? TIA

i don't think you can do much...unfortunaly, most complanies include a disclaimer, stating that they are not responsible for any problems during the firmware upgrade

I have the .87 version of this firmware if you want it. PM or email me. I just fixed my ASUS S480 (from HP). I used
MTKFLASH and the original firmware I extracted from a friends drive.

BTW you need to hook the drive to PRIMARY as SLAVE to flash using MTKFLASH.

I flashed .90 and the drive is no longer working.

Diddo! I, too, looking a working driver of the Asus CD-S480/A4 for Win 2000/XP as well. Would someone please send me one?! Thanks!
