My conclusions:
Asus is still the best. It needs a firmware with removed rip lock to be perfect. There are a few skilful patchers that might do it later, but none achieved it yet (Any patchers listening?)
Toshiba is not like it used to be. Identical result to Samsung's drive, no more fast cd-rw and protected cds reading, not even a Toshiba chipset. A rebudged Samsung. For me, Toshiba no more makes dvd-rom drives (sound harsh, ah?)
Can we hope for LG GDR-8163B review in the not too far future?
