I too have a Khypermedia 48x24x48 from Office Max. I'm running the Nero Express software supplied with it, on a PIII 750MHz, Win 98SE. It burns audio cds just fine, EXCEPT for one weird problem: The burned cd, when played on a regular audio cd player, won't stop playing when the last track is completed. The cd player will search for the end of the last track, but never find it; there's no music at this point - the cd timer gets up to a certain value, then backs off a bit, in an endless loop. I have to manually stop the cd player.

Anyone else experience this? Any known fixes? I've tried burning at a slower speed (24x) but the problem persists.

You are obviously reffering to overburned discs.

The played has trouble to locate the lead-out part of the session.
Try using a disc with less time of music on it.

I don't think that is the problem. I first noticed this problem on a CD with only 37 minutes of music. Any other ideas?

Using the same CDRW burner, I burned a 78 minute CD using Microsoft Windows Media Player and the Roxio CD burner. That software does burn the last track properly, so the audio CD player stops at the end. I'd still like to get Nero Express to work, though, as the Media Player is really, really hard to use.

2)In Device Manager, under CD-RW Properties/Settings/Options, I checked Sync data transfer, and unchecked both DMA and Auto Insert notification.

- sync data transfer doesn't do anything with IDE devices.
- you really DO NOT want to uncheck DMA.
- disabling auto insert notification always is a good thing :-).

Is this audio disc made by yourself or is this a so called 1:1 copy [?] I found out that some normal audio disc's( Both U2 cd singles from the sweetest thing) do this on my cd-rom player and on cd-players.
A 1:1 copy will do the same.

I tried to flash F.FZ firmware on a khypermedia 48x24x48x drive (original firmware C.FZ) using ffz.exe from the benq.com website, the program ran for an hour and it hung up my system. After the reboot my OS(win2000) is not detecting that drive. Is there any way to bring it back to life?

I picked one of those Khypermedia 48/24/48 drives that has a stock # 4824P-052 and a D.LC firmware according to the label.

I here a lot of talk about these flashing firmwares. What is the BEST firmware to have and why?

I don't have the C.FZ like most people have? Do I have the wrong burner?

I know from reading previous posts that the D.xC firmware cannot be flashed. So does that mean I should get the C.xZ original firmware?

Is the reason it cannot be flashed because they use different chipsets?

Which chipset Ricoh or Mediatek is better to use and why? Is one more stable than another?

I also bought a Cendyne 48/12/48 the is a BenQ 4816A drive? Does anyone know much about this drive? What is the highest it can be flashed? It is ironic that the Cendyne box says 12x re-write but the drive from BenQ is actually a 16x re-write. As far aa I know BenQ never made a 12x re-write.

hello all,

i also recently purchased the Khypermedia 48x24x48 cdrw (BenQ 4824P; D.LC). installation no problem. however, this drive did not recognized any of the 4 different types of blank CDRs i tried. i used Samsung 16x 700mb, Sony 700mb, Maxell 12x 700mb, & TDK 12x 650mb. can anyone tell me which brand/speed has worked with this drive? thanks.

I got the KHCRW482448 (says 'Seamless Link' on the tray, so it is mfd by Benq).

It says C.FZ in the lower right corner of the sticker on the bottom of the drive. I assume this is the firmware revision?

It seems from reading one of posts on another site, that a bin file is not needed, but simply using another (52X I suppose) drive's .exe is working?

Not to worry, I read the post about the C.FZ being able to use the 5224W's firmware directly

Update: July 22.
I just got another 48X KHypermedia 48X CD-RW (Free After Rebate again; new promotion).
However, this time it is the 4824P with firmware D.LC (the one from a few months ago was a .FZ)
Does anyone have the BIN of the 5224P - K.xC - so I can flash mine to 52X?
If so, I would appreciate it if you could e-mail it to me so I can upgrade it.

I just purchased a KHCRW482448 Firmware Rev. D.LC,(OM free after Rebate deal) if anyone still has the K.XC bin file to flash w/ MTKWINFLASH to upgrade the drive(522452), I'd appreciate it if you could email it to me so I can upgrade too!
