mikeemei -> VMWare or Virtual PC? (2/2/2005 8:42:16 AM)

I am just wondering if anyone have used any of these two piece of software VMware or MS Virtual PC, which is better?

Also, since we're on the same topic... What are some of your favorite software that you use.

My List:
FireFox -- great browser
Steam[:)] -- wish more companies would use something like this (AutoUpdate)
PCAnywhere -- Nice tool to use for connect to a computer without monitor
DesktopX -- Unique look
Nero -- I like it
Others

I had used both software in past, i liked more VMWare since had some advantages over VirtualPC, but i think anyway both software are now owned by Microsoft?

Are you serious? VMware are owned by MS now? that sucks. What are some of the difference between the two software?

VMware as more powerful while VirtualPC faster, but i haven't tried the latest builds to know if that is still accurate

VMWare was owned by EMC not MS.
VMWare is quite powerful than Virtual PC, and the performance is better too.
But I did not test Virtual PC 2004 yet. No sure if it has some major improvement.

Personally, I use VMWare to build up my developing environment and testing environment.[;)]

it's the best thing since dancing monkeys imo
it has also got some nifty features like the ability to run any win 9x os in hyperdrive

VMWare 5.0? That sounds very interesting, what didn't liked was the fact that they couldn't support native CD/DVD drives, either in terms of reading/writing, maybe this now has been fixed?

hm....well, let me see....
I just upgrade my VMWare to 5.0 RC2[:D]

Hm....Just attach my old CyQve CDR with USB cable into my host machine, and then the VMWare guest machine detect it.

I see, so CD/DVD burning under VMWare 5.0 now works ok?

arith -> RE: VMWare or Virtual PC? (3/5/2005 11:47:43 AM)

That's right. The burning failed is just a individual case..[&:]
