hotrod11 -> Clear Memory Cache after DVDShrink/Recode? (1/27/2005 1:43:29 PM)
Thanks to all the help I've gotten here, I'm up and running making DVD Backups. But I have a question about computer performance. I'm running a P4 2.4 with 512 ram. And all is good, except when I get done 'Shrinking' or 'Recoding' by computer is terribly slow for quite some time. I'm guessing it has something to do with the Memory Cache being full and not clearing out when I am done.
Is that a correct assessment?
If not what is the problem?
Is there a software or 'setting' solution to get my computer back up to speed when I am done? and what do you think is the best solution?
Normal Priority. I don't do anything on the computer while it's working on the backup. But when it's done and I close the program either Shrink or Recode it takes several minutes (10-15 maybe more) for the computer to get back it's pep. It's slow and sluggish. I'm going to upgrade to 1gb of ram soon, but I was just curious as to what you all thought.
I don't have this problem at all, I usually rip, shrink and burn 5 dvd's back to back, tried it on a machine with 512 Megs of ram, and one with 3 GB of ram, made no difference on either machine, no signs of the machine being sluggish at all, and memory returns instantly upon closing the programs.
