i flashed my nec 3520a, and the ripping speeds greatly increased to about 4600kb/s on css encrypted dvds, but after i ripped a few dvds, the speed went down to 2600, and i have been using dvdshrink, i flashed the drive again, and the speeds were about 4600 again, is there anything that could be causing the drive to run slower and need to be flashed again?
It is possible in some cases, if the disc is defeacted, to slow down and lock the speed. What if you unistall the IDE channel you have set your NEC and reboot? without flashing again the drive what will be the speed this time?
actually, that worked out well, i don't know what it was but now the dvd drive reads at normal speeds consistently, prehaps there was a loose connection or something, but unplugging the ide cable restarting and plugging it back in worked well... thanks for the advice.
