gmt -> 3500, what's the best firmware atm? (1/22/2005 12:48:37 PM)

Hi all,

I am a bit confused. What't the best firmware (official or unofficial) for the NEC3500 DVD burner?

Thanks,

GMT

2.18 or 2.28 if you need bitsetting

@Emperor:

Would you recommend 2.28 over 2.18_Liggy_SE?

Thanks.

well 2.28 has bitsetting on board so no need to used hacked firmware...2.18 Liggy SE has some additional tweaks, but you could try Quickee's overspeed firmware, if you want to have several well known media overspeed from 4X to 8X/12X

Thanks emperor

Since burn quality is my main concern I guess I have no reason to switch
from my current Liggy SE.

Btw, I kinda doubt how well the bitsetting feature actually works...
I burned a copy of a movie on a Verbatim DVD+R at 8x with book-type
set to -ROM, but it plays back very badly on my standalone player.
This is very disappointing, but then again, my standalone is pretty picky
with media, plus I guess that bitsetting either works or it doesn't, there
are no in-betweens (or not?)

Anyway, I just wanted to mention it in case it rings any bells...

since the disc playbacks, this mean DVD-ROM bitsetting did worked, try to reduce the burning speed

I guess I'll try that.
But I hope I won't need to with some Taiyo Yudens I bought recently :)

Thanks once again emperor
